Jean Baudrillard Leaves Hyper-Reality
Famed French post-modernist thinker Jean Baudrillard died today, at the age of 77. The renowned writer of works such as "Simulacra and Simulation," "America," "The Gulf War Did Not Take Place," and "The Spirit of Terrorism: A Requiem for the Twin Towers" was best known for his theories on contemporary media culture involving notions of "simulation" and the "hyper-real." Surely, he would have approved of our seminar, though, let's not forget, this is also the guy who hated on Disneyworld. The Matrix, MCM classes, and the First Gulf War just won't feel the same without him. Enjoy that great hyper-reality in the sky, buddy. Say hi to Borges for us.
