Take a Stand on Iraq; Label Its Oil

Iraq is another reason why we need oil labeling. We’ve invaded the country, we’ve blown it up, and we still have hundreds of thousands of soldiers over there right now. Iraqis need peace and stability. And their oil revenues will go a long way toward paying for that.

Supporting the Iraqi oil industry helps pay to bring peace and stability to that country, which brings our troops home that much sooner. A lot of Americans would be pleased to support our troops and buy Iraqi oil. They should be free to do so.

Other Americans would be horrified to buy Iraqi oil. They believe that the Iraq War was about nothing but oil. And they think buying Iraqi oil supports the Bush administration’s policies and the war in Iraq. They should be free not to buy Iraqi oil.

But the flag-wavers can’t run out and buy Iraqi oil and the tree-huggers can’t run out and boycott it until they know it’s there.

Label Iraqi oil, and let the democracy of the American market work.
